Tom Wallisch World of X - January 18th

Denver based Director & Cinematographer Blake Kimmel has created a short documentary on skier, Tom Wallisch. The piece was commissioned by ESPN and will air nationally on ABC TV, Saturday, January 19th 12PM MT alongside similar profiles covering the likes of snowboarder Anna Gasser & moto-cross rider Jackson Strong.

Both Tom and Blake have a colorful history with Jiberish. Starting in 2006 Tom wore some of our most iconic pieces in park edits and Level 1 films and gave input and feedback on design and style alongside our other riders. Blake worked as a designer and cinematographer for Jiberish, creating classic pieces such as “Fruit and Orbs”, “On Point” and “Dripset” and shooting relatable park skiing footage that garnered attention and rippled through the internet in the pre-instagram era.

Wallisch had a meteoric rise to stardom through a few key Internet videos that caught the interest of the skiing world. His fluid and technical rail skiing was leaps and bounds above most other established pros. While building his credibility with breakout performances with ski film company Level 1, Tom innovated terrain park skiing for his peers.

Tom would later take on bigger endorsement deals with sponsors like the North Face and GoPro, win an X Games slopestyle gold medal and produce high-end film content through his own production business ‘Good Company’.

The featurette includes archival footage from cinematographers AJ Dakoulas and Kyle Decker as well as interviews from Tom’s parents, 5-time X Games medalist James Woods and urban skier Khai Krepela.

Battling his latest injury Tom has found creative ways to stay involved in skiing in the last year, including becoming the voice behind ESPN’s Winter X Games television broadcast.

Watch Tom and those close to him reflect on his career, legacy and return from injury in this 11-minute piece either on television or xgames.com. Check local ABC TV listings for ‘World of X’ show times in your region.
